Peer Review Process

Socia Akademika Journal implements a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and academic contribution of every manuscript, particularly in the fields of Culinary Arts, Fashion Design, Fashion Styling, Makeup Artistry, and related Special Education studies.


1. Review Model

The journal applies a double-blind peer review system, where:

  • Reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors.

  • Author identities are not disclosed to reviewers.

All review processes are managed through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.


2. Number of Reviewers

  1. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript topic.

  2. Authors may suggest potential reviewers; however, final reviewer selection remains the Editor’s authority.

  3. If only two reviewers are assigned, editorial decisions are primarily based on the reviewers’ recommendations.

  4. If three reviewers are involved, the decision will be made based on agreement from at least two reviewers.


3. Review Timeline

  • Each reviewer is given approximately three weeks to complete one round of review.

  • If revisions are required, additional review rounds may be conducted.


4. Reviewer Selection Criteria

Reviewer candidates are selected based on:

  • Academic expertise in Culinary Arts, Fashion Design, Fashion Styling, Makeup Artistry, or related education fields.

  • Publication record in reputable national or international journals.

  • Research experience and academic reputation.

The editorial workflow is as follows:

  1. The Editor identifies potential reviewers.

  2. The Editor sends reviewer invitation letters.

  3. After reviewers confirm availability, the Editor assigns manuscripts through OJS.


5. Review Evaluation Criteria

Manuscripts are evaluated based on the following criteria:

A. Scope and Relevance

  • Suitability with the aims and scope of Socia Akademika Journal.

  • Contribution to the development of knowledge in Culinary Arts, Fashion, and Makeup fields.

B. Scientific Contribution

  • Originality and novelty of research.

  • Contribution to theory development, best practices, or applied knowledge.

C. Methodological Quality

  • Research design rigor.

  • Appropriateness of research methods.

  • Validity and reliability of data analysis.

D. Academic Writing Quality

  • Clarity and organization of ideas.

  • Logical argumentation.

  • Proper use of academic English.

E. Reference Quality

  • Use of up-to-date references.

  • Compliance with APA 7th citation format.


6. Manuscript Type Evaluation

Additional evaluation may be applied based on manuscript type:

  1. Research Articles

    • Scientific rigor

    • Methodological strength

    • Contribution to academic knowledge

  2. Applied or Practice-Based Articles

    • Practical contribution to industry or education

    • Innovation in applied practices

  3. Conceptual or Analytical Papers

    • Strength of theoretical framework

    • Depth of analysis

  4. Review Articles or Book Reviews

    • Critical analysis quality

    • Relevance to journal scope


7. Editorial Decision

Based on reviewer recommendations, the Editor may decide:

  • Accept without revision

  • Accept with minor revision

  • Accept with major revision

  • Reject

The Editor has the final authority in publication decisions.


8. Ethical Standards in Review

Reviewers must:

  • Maintain confidentiality of manuscripts.

  • Provide objective and constructive feedback.

  • Declare conflicts of interest if any.
