Publication Ethics

Jurnal Socia Akademika is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics and preventing publication malpractice. This statement is based on COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) principles and adapted to the academic scope of Culinary Arts, Fashion Design, Fashion Styling, Makeup Artistry, and related Special Education studies.


1. Publication Ethics for Authors

1.1 Reporting Standards

Authors must present accurate and objective reports of research conducted.
Manuscripts must:

  • Provide sufficient detail to allow replication of research.

  • Present data accurately without fabrication or manipulation.

  • Include appropriate references and supporting literature.


1.2 Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that manuscripts are original works.
If using ideas, data, or words from other sources, proper citation and quotation must be applied using APA 7th Edition format.

All manuscripts will undergo plagiarism screening before review.


1.3 Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.
Publishing the same research in multiple journals without proper justification is considered unethical.


1.4 Acknowledgement of Sources

Authors must properly acknowledge all sources influencing the research.
Relevant previous publications must be cited appropriately.


1.5 Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that may influence research results or interpretation.
All funding sources must be clearly stated.


1.6 Fundamental Errors in Published Works

If authors discover significant errors in published work, they must immediately notify the journal editor and cooperate in correction or retraction processes.


2. Publication Ethics for Editors

2.1 Fair Evaluation

Editors evaluate manuscripts based solely on academic merit without discrimination related to:

  • Race

  • Gender

  • Religion

  • Nationality

  • Political views

  • Institutional background


2.2 Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must maintain confidentiality of all manuscript information except to:

  • Corresponding authors

  • Reviewers

  • Editorial advisors

  • Publisher (if necessary)


2.3 Conflict of Interest

Editors must not use unpublished materials from submitted manuscripts for personal research without written permission from authors.


2.4 Editor Qualifications

Editors should:

  • Have strong academic publication experience

  • Preferably have publications in reputable national or international journals

  • Have expertise relevant to the journal scope (Culinary Arts, Fashion, Makeup, or related education fields)

Editors may provide technical or academic input in addition to reviewer comments.


2.5 Publication Decisions

Editorial decisions are based on:

  • Scientific contribution

  • Relevance to journal scope

  • Methodological quality

  • Ethical compliance

Editors must follow legal regulations related to copyright, plagiarism, and defamation.


2.6 Review Process Management

Editors must:

  • Conduct initial screening for originality and scope suitability

  • Assign appropriate expert reviewers

  • Avoid reviewers with conflicts of interest

  • Clearly explain peer review procedures in author guidelines


3. Publication Ethics for Reviewers

3.1 Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Reviewers assist editors in decision-making and help authors improve manuscript quality through constructive feedback.


3.2 Reviewer Qualifications

Reviewers should:

  • Have expertise relevant to manuscript topic

  • Have academic publications in national or international journals

  • Preferably have research or practical experience related to manuscript topic


3.3 Objectivity Standards

Reviewers must:

  • Provide objective, constructive, and professional evaluations

  • Avoid personal criticism of authors

  • Support opinions with academic arguments


3.4 Confidentiality

All manuscripts must be treated as confidential documents.
Reviewers must not share or discuss manuscripts with unauthorized parties.


3.5 Conflict of Interest

Reviewers must not review manuscripts if conflicts of interest exist due to:

  • Collaboration

  • Competition

  • Institutional relationships

  • Personal relationships


3.6 Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should:

  • Identify uncited relevant research

  • Inform editors about similarity or overlap with other publications


3.7 Review Timeframe

  • Standard review period: up to 3–4 weeks per review round.

  • Each manuscript is reviewed by at least 2 reviewers.

  • Additional reviewers may be assigned if necessary.


4. Ethical Oversight

The journal reserves the right to:

  • Reject manuscripts violating ethical standards

  • Retract published articles if ethical violations are confirmed

  • Inform author institutions if serious misconduct occurs


5. Plagiarism Policy

All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software.
Manuscripts with significant similarity index will be rejected or returned for revision.
